Dew Thrashed Apple Soda - Available to purchase on September 13th!." The online listing on the site showed an official launch date, proving the previously mentioned rumors correct. On August 26th, 2021, it was discovered that the Kroger website listed a 20-ounce bottle online listing for Thrashed Apple. These posts show it is slowly inching closer to its release to Kroger and Kroger-owned stores. ![]() On various dates in 2021, there were some designs and photographs of Thrashed Apple on certain websites. The photograph shows a potential release date of September 13th, 2021, leaving some people skeptical of its release date. On May 13th, 2021, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, Thrashed Apple was first leaked by a user named u/jerbilegit2 showing an image of Thrashed Apple in its 12-pack and 20-ounce bottle design. Its tagline is " DEW Charged with Crisp Apple. Thrashed Apple is a Crisp Apple flavor of Mountain Dew and has a light cloudy green look, having a comparable tasting flavor and color to that of Electric Apple. 2.1 Late 2022 discontinuation and subsequent reversal. To be fair, I was already kind of sick of it, but looking at all the luminescent pink fluid left, I can’t help but feel a touch of dismay. 12 ounces I could hack all right, but I’ve still got a third of the bottle to go and I’m getting kind of sick of this stuff. It doesn’t help that this is a 20-ounce bottle. I’m not much for artificial watermelon flavor anyway (Jones Crushed Melon was solid, but that was more cantaloupe/honeydew than watermelon), and the sharpness of the fizz is really off-putting here. I never would’ve thought of adding melon to Dew, and there’s a reason for that. So it’s got that heaviness, but it’s not the same kind of sweetness – it’s aspartame instead of HFCS – and then you add in the fake melon flavor on top of that…it’s a lot for my palate to cope with.Īll that said…it’s not very good. ![]() It also seems to be fizzier than Dew normally is, which sits uncomfortably with the heavy, syrupy texture that we’re all familiar with.Īnd then you’ve got the fact that this is Zero Sugar Dew, which I don’t think I’ve ever had. Which is fitting, because Mountain Dew itself doesn’t exactly taste like lemon-lime, but it doesn’t not taste like it. ![]() ![]() I guess that’s good.Īnd it tastes…kind of melon-y. So let’s Do the Dew, Major Melon style! I can’t say adding melon to the vague citrus flavor of the original seemed like a gimme, but what have I got to lose?Ĭap came off with a more satisfying “pop” than usual. (I’ve got another soda on deck that is full-sugar, but I’ll review that in a few days.) In any case, when I found a bottle of Major Melon Dew in the Zero Sugar variant – Dew has a ridiculous amount of sugar even for a mainstream soda – I decided to add it to my lineup. I’m not sure if there’s been a great deal of hype around Mountain Dew’s (I’m sorry, “Mtn Dew’s”) newest variant, but then again, I haven’t had my finger on the pulse of soda culture as tightly as I would like of late.
